Checkout or Payment Page Won't Load

When you click Upgrade to Pro (or Scale) in your dashboard, Truncus hands you off to Stripe — our payment processor — to enter card details on a secure page. If that page won't open, hangs, or shows an error like ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR, the problem is almost always the connection between your browser and Stripe, not your Truncus account.

Your plan, seats, and account are unaffected. Nothing was charged. You can retry as many times as you like.

The quickest fix

Open the checkout on a different browser or network. In practice, one of these clears it immediately:

  1. Try a different browser, or an incognito / private window (this bypasses extensions and cached SSL state).
  2. Switch networks. Office and some public Wi‑Fi run security proxies that break the secure connection to Stripe. Use your phone's mobile data instead.
  3. Open it on your phone. A phone on mobile data avoids both the desktop's proxy and any local security software.

If it still won't load

A few local settings can block the secure handshake with Stripe:

  • Wrong system clock. If your computer's date and time are off, secure certificates fail to validate. Set the clock to update automatically.
  • Antivirus "HTTPS scanning" / "SSL inspection". Some antivirus and firewall products intercept secure traffic and break it. Pause that feature and retry.
  • VPN or corporate proxy. Turn the VPN off for the payment step, then re-enable it afterwards.
  • Browser extensions. Ad blockers or privacy extensions can block the Stripe frame. An incognito window with extensions disabled rules this out.

Why this happens

ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR and similar messages mean your browser could not open an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to the payment page. That handshake happens directly between your device and Stripe. When something on the path — a network proxy, security software, an out-of-date clock — interferes with it, the page fails to load before you ever see the card form.

Still stuck? We'll send you a direct link

If none of the above works, email info@truncus.co and we'll send you a secure payment link you can open on your phone or another device. Including a screenshot of the error helps us confirm the cause quickly. We'll get you onto your new plan the same day.
